Every taekwondo school owner knows the grading-day problem. A batch of new students needs uniforms, the last supplier's doboks shrank a size after the first wash, the black-belt collars came in the wrong shade, and the printed school logo on the back started cracking after one term. Parents notice, and the school looks less professional than it is.

This guide covers what to decide before you order custom taekwondo uniforms: the cut, the fabric, collar colours, sizing a whole school from tiny tigers to adult black belts, and how to brand the uniforms so the logo lasts. For karate, read our guide to custom karate gis for dojos.

What style of dobok should your school order?

Most schools that follow World Taekwondo order the V-neck dobok: a wrap-over jacket with a V-shaped neckline and straight pants with an elastic waist. Many ITF schools wear a different jacket style, often with black trim on the edge for black belts. Choose the style your federation and grading syllabus expect, and keep the same style across the school so students look uniform in class photos and at gradings.

Many schools order two versions: a standard white dobok for colour belts and a black-collar version for black belts. Some add a separate competition or demonstration uniform for a team.

Which collar colours do you need?

Collar colour shows rank. Under World Taekwondo conventions, colour belts usually wear a white collar, adult black belts (dan holders) wear a black collar, and junior black belts (poom holders) often wear a red and black collar. ITF and independent schools set their own rules. Confirm what your federation expects before you approve the design, because collar colour is the first thing a grading panel sees.

What fabric works best for taekwondo uniforms?

Taekwondo uniforms are usually made from polyester and cotton blends. A lighter fabric suits children, warm training halls and patterns (poomsae) where students want freedom of movement. A slightly heavier fabric holds a crisp shape and makes the sharp snap of the sleeves during patterns more noticeable, which many senior students prefer.

Our catalogue includes a 7 oz V-neck martial arts uniform that suits most schools. Tell us the age range of your students and how hot your training hall gets, and we will suggest the right weight.

Embroidered logos last longer than prints on uniforms that are washed after every class.

How do you size taekwondo uniforms for a whole school?

A school order spans a wide range, from four-year-olds to adults. Uniform sizes usually go by height, so collect each student's height with a sign-up sheet rather than guessing from age. Order a few spares in the most common children's sizes, because those students grow out of their uniforms fastest and new students join every month.

  • Collect heights, not ages, on your sign-up sheet.
  • If a student is between sizes, go up a size, especially for children.
  • Wash cold and hang to dry to limit shrinkage in cotton blends.
  • Keep a small stock of spares so new students can train in a uniform from their first week.

How should you brand taekwondo uniforms?

Embroidery is the most durable choice for uniforms that are washed after every class. Most schools put an embroidered logo on the left chest and the school name across the back. Sleeve badges, country flags and federation patches can go on the arms. If students compete, check your federation's rules on where logos and patches can sit before you finalise the placement.

Matching belts make the school look complete. We embroider belts with the school name or the student's name, and we make custom embroidered patches for sleeves, bags and jackets. Our guide to embroidered, woven and PVC patches explains the options.

Should you sell uniforms through the school?

Many schools include the first uniform in the joining fee and sell spares, belts, bags and sparring gear at the front desk. Branded uniforms and gear also make the school look established at tournaments and demonstrations. With no minimum order, you can stock a small range and reorder as students join.

Common questions

What is a taekwondo uniform called?

A taekwondo uniform is called a dobok. Most doboks have a V-neck jacket, and many schools give black belts a jacket with a black collar.

What collar colour should black belts wear?

Under World Taekwondo conventions, adult black belts (dan holders) usually wear a black collar, and junior black belts (poom holders) often wear a red and black collar. ITF schools follow their own uniform rules, so check with your federation.

Do taekwondo uniforms shrink?

Uniforms with cotton in the fabric can shrink if washed hot or tumble dried. Wash cold, hang to dry, and order with a little room if students are between sizes.

Can I order taekwondo uniforms with my school logo and no minimum order?

Yes. UZAS Sports makes custom taekwondo uniforms with no minimum order. You approve a complimentary prototype with your logo first, and orders of 25 pieces or more ship free.

Can I order belts and patches with the uniforms?

Yes. You can order embroidered belts, sleeve patches, gym bags and sparring gear in the same order so the branding matches.
